This is a known issue at Lotus: SPR WEBB6ZPMDS, but not yet resolved.
Their first recommendation was to delete cache.ndk - this did not work for me.
Their next suggestion was that it is related to corruption in a profile document, and the solution is to create a new database copy (file>application>new copy) using the user's ID. This did work for me, however all of the documents in the mail file are now 'unread' for the user's ID.
